Born to an Equestrian family of middle standing, Honorius spent most of his professional career in the military. As his father's career increased, so too did the opportunities for Marcus, as he was known then. At a young age he wed Lucilla of the Flavii and by her had three children. Those children were later adopted by Emperor Claudius; the eldest, Darius, became Caesar himself.
When Darius became Caesar, Honorius was named his Praetorian Prefect. Upon Darius' death, Honorius was proclaimed Caesar by the Praetorians and thus became known as Honorius Caesar. He remarried Lucilla and now works at keeping Rome functional and strong. |
