MORIEN
-----------------------------------------------------
THE WRITER ----------------------------------------------------- NAME/ALIAS: Bexx AGE: XXV EXPERIENCE: XIV OTHER CHARACTERS: Tiberius Livius Cassianus, Kaeso Fabius Solus CONTACT: PM -----------------------------------------------------
THE CHARACTER ----------------------------------------------------- NAME: Morien DATE OF BIRTH: Summer 39 AD – Twenty GENDER: Male SEXUAL ORIENTATION: CITIZENSHIP: Non Civium, Mancipiae, Servus OCCUPATION: Personal slave, trophy of war. LIKES: Peace and quiet. Music and singing. Hot bread When things just work without hassle Cats DISLIKES:: Noisy, hectic situations. Idiots, fools and morons. Not being able to speak Latin Hot weather. Dogs FEARS: Being left behind in Rome on his own. Having no place to call home. The death of Quintus. ASPIRATIONS: To become a freeman To return home. To have control over his own life. GENERAL PERSONALITY: Morien is not a man of many words and this is for a few different reasons, most primarily because he simply does not speak Latin fluently but also because he often feels as though no one listens to him anyway. For this reason he either tends not to talk to other people or instead mutters and curses to himself, finding that conversation with himself is often much more intelligent than it would be with half the people he meets. The more respects or likes someone, the more likely it is that he will offer his opinion and discuss things; simply because he is at ease, feels his opinion is being listened to and appreciated. Subsequently when he does give his opinions he is easily frustrated, upset and annoyed when people talk over him, cut him off or otherwise ignore him, which results in his poor habit of cursing beneath his breath when he thinks no one can hear him. Morien has a rather dry and sarcastic sense of humour which can seemingly come out of nowhere. He holds a wonderful grudge and has a temper which runs cold and for extended amounts of time, rather than being quick and dangerous. It is often hard to tell the difference between Morien being annoyed and between Morien sulking, as he tends to react very much the same by giving the offending party the cold shoulder. Luckily he is easily won over again with some sucking up or compliments, making his stalking around being annoyed not particularly offensive. When annoyed he be rather waspish and strike out at everything around him, often finding a great amount of frustration in his situation, leaving his home and being stuck in Rome. Although Morien wants to be a freeman, disliking the idea of being a slave more than the actual issue of being enslaved, he also fears being left alone and having that bond which ties him to his master removed. Being free would be a good thing, allowing him to do as he pleased however it would mean he would become truly alone in the world which is something he hates to contemplate. While it suits him, he will be a slave but Morien has all intentions to become free and return home as soon as he is sure that he is prepared for it. He has no intention of spending his life as another man’s slave and resents anyone suggesting such things. It is very much like a convenient job which he will put up with for as long as it serves his purpose. Fortunately for Morien, he enjoys keeping himself busy and enjoys nothing more than ‘putting things right’, so being a personal slave is not the worst position in life he could be in. He finds nothing more relaxing than having everything in its place, clean, quiet and just properly organised. Anyone in his way will just get cleaned up, organised and shuffled about to his pleasure, even Quintus and his guests. Morien takes possession of all of which he deals in, unable to really accept being another man’s possession, instead he likes to think of himself as an ‘assistant’ or ‘helper’ and regards his master’s house and property as his own. Morien does as Morien pleases, if he thinks what he’s doing is right then he’ll just forge on ahead and do it regardless of social conventions, public opinions or even orders. When he has convinced himself of something it is almost impossible to tell him otherwise, especially due to his very limited understanding of Latin. Instead he’ll tend to agree with people, but then just go off and do his thing anyway, no matter what has just been said. He is stubborn, resentful and has no intention of bowing down to any of the silly Romans and their silly city. Though he has a fondness for hot baths and indoor plumbing, Morien believes that his own culture is more spiritually correct and better for the soul. -----------------------------------------------------
APPEARANCE ----------------------------------------------------- ![]() CELEBRITY CLAIM: Jake Abel HAIR: Light brown EYES: Green BUILD: Slim HEIGHT: Five foot eight. STYLE OF DRESS: Simple practical clothing that is purchased for him by his master. GENERAL APPEARANCE: Standing at around five foot and eight inches tall, Morien is of average height for a Briton. Unlike the Romans tend to be, he is slightly scruffy, his sandy blonde hair sits as it pleases and he had no interest in combing it to the Roman style. Morien is of a slim and light build, but not a fragile one. He has a wiry strength, along with long lean muscles, that allows him to face most tasks. -----------------------------------------------------
PARENTS:FAMILY & HISTORY ----------------------------------------------------- --Father - Deceased --Mother - Deceased SIBLINGS: --Brother - Deceased --Sister - Deceased SPOUSE(S): N/A CHILDREN: N/A OTHER RELATIONS: --Master – Quintus Fabius Dorso, 25 BIOGRAPHY: Born in the long summer of 39 AD in to a small tribe in the heart of Britannia, Morien had a quiet and very family oriented upbringing. Living with a large family with many siblings he was never alone, nor did he ever contemplate the possibility of being so. He spent his summers swimming in the streams, riding horses and playing in the grass, with the winters gathered around fires with his family close by. It never occurred to Morien while growing up that anywhere else could exist yet when the Romans came his world changed. Like all young men Morien was taught to fight, although due to his slight frame never found much proficiency in swords or slings yet had enough skill in the bow to make him useful when required. Growing up he spent a good deal of time hunting but also half-heartedly learning his father’s pottery skills. The change to the tribe’s way of life was slow, with the Roman arrival in the area to make use of the large network of streams and rivers in the land of Morien’s people came trouble and culture clashes. Although the tribe existed aside the Roman encampment for many years it was an uncomfortable truce that was never set to last forever. In order to remain isolated the Tribe decided to move on, removing their family from the presence of the cold, militarist Romans who were disrupting not only their way of life but also their connection to their gods. Despite this geographical movement the tribe continue to trade with the Roman outpost though they had very little interaction with them outside of the trading. For this reason Morien only learn a very few Latin words, primarily curses and trading which were all that was often used. It was due to this trading however that the tribe’s downfall came to happen. When one trader stole from a Roman, the relationship between the two exploded apart quickly, with one Roman soldier dead, soon an army of them marched on the tribe. It was a massacre, most were killed and those who were not were taken away as slaves to be sold as treasures of war. After having watched his whole family murdered, Morien was one of the lucky few to remain alive although after being forced into enslavement he wished more than once that he had not. When the slaves were split up, Morien was given to a young soldier Quintus Fabius Dorso. Serving was not the worst thing in the world, for Morien’s indomitable nature allowed him to push and fight where other people were happy to cower. Due to his steadfast nature he endeared his master enough so that when he was set to return to Rome, Morien was required to come along. It was with no pleasure that Morien went with him, having no desire to leave his homeland and even less desire to enter the Roman strong hold as a slave. TIMELINE: 39AD- Born 56AD- Enslaved 57AD- Ends up serving Quintus Fabius Dorso 59AD – Moves to Rome OTHER: *Wiggles* |
