General Personality: Hypatia is quite a vivacious woman. Often setting out with a goal in mind and making it happen. She always believes it is important to be hard working and generous to have continued good fortune.

The young lady has been known to be in the kitchen to make bread for those less fortunate and would even purchase cloth to make clothes for the poorer families. She believes that being so wealthy and fortunate, it is only right to give charity to help those that can help themselves.

This does not mean that she would allow herself to be taken advantage of. She does not want to be looked upon as a saint or anything like that but as a normal person there to help others. She would also love to play with the children of Antioch and takes care of them as she does her own sisters. She does everything passionately, and tries to be the optimist as well as her family’s pillar of strength.

A very energetic woman, Hypatia would keep her strength with even helping with the more menial labor to keep in shape and looking healthy even though her mother believes that she should eat more instead of giving away all of the food to the poor. She is fairly even tempered and tries her best to be patient and unselfish. It does not mean she does not have buttons that could be pushed, but often times she dams it up pretty tightly until it overflows and then the earth trembles (just kidding). No, she takes that time to put her foot down and say what is on her mind, but it would have to have taken quite a bit of negative energy to cause such an influx of negative emotions of her.

History: Hypatia is the eldest daughter to a wealthy Greek wine merchant that had opened his business in Antioch. They had made quite a home for themselves and thrived by selling their wares.

She has always enjoyed her life and considered it a blessing. The only thing that was not there was a male child that would have taken over when he was old enough to do so. It was not that she could not take over her father’s business, but being unwed and a woman really was not a promising prospect.

Then John walked into her life, secretly, at first sight she wanted him. Hypatia knew that she was not really a romantic type person, but he had the most becoming voice and smile that melted her from the inside out.
His confidence and his way with people was also perfect for the job he came in looking for. She looked busy but listened to ever word that was said in the interview between him and her father. Relief flooded her sense when they struck a deal and in her heart she knew this was the man for her. She knew she wanted to have his children, and be his wife and to continue to thrive and perhaps expand someday. The sky was the limit.

Any chance she got would be in light flirtation with him. He would help her when she needed an extra hand and did not nag at her when she gave food and clothes away to the less fortunate. At some point he even managed to steal a kiss that made her grin like a fool for days.

Eventually, he had asked her father for Hypatia’s hand in marriage and felt as if all of her dreams were to come true. The one concern she had was what John had told her about his brother Matthias. Would he try to tear them apart and kidnap him back to Judea? She had no idea but it was always on her mind. Would he like her? Would he enjoy his stay in Antioch?

John was there to reassure, but he did not know the future. She had to put her worry aside and just trust him. Through whatever that might happen at the wedding, they will persevere.
